Events in Redbridge

On Tuesdays meeting, Councillors agreed to close the Chadwell Centre, so they could provide different services for those who presently go there, producing a new variety.
Redbridge Council leader Cllr Alan Weinberg joined many residents today in voting for £400,000 to improve his favourite park in the Borough.
He used the quick and easy online voting method to vote for one of the two parks in Redbridge which have been shortlisted by the Greater London Authority for the £400,000 development offer. Redbridge citizens will be waiting for the new recycling leaflet, which will possibly half the amount of garbage chucked into junk yards, helping the atmosphere continue its natural formation.
There have been 90 crimes reported this month in Fairlop Ward, some of which are:
There have been 10 burglaries, both residential and non-residential (sheds and garages).
There have been a further 5 attempted burglaries where no entry was gained
There have been 9 thefts from motor vehicles and 2 thefts of motor vehicles
There have been 14 domestic / crime related reports.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) officers have arrested 5 people because they were known to be supplying cocaine, shoplifting, assault, harassment and driving offences.
The team have also dealt with a further 8 people regarding their possession of cannabis resulting in cautions.
Safety officers from Redbridge Council, police and representatives from the London Fire Brigade held a commendation award ceremony on Wednesday 19 November to recognise the work and successes oft the Redbridge Doorstep Crime Partnership (RDCP). The Council has a small budget to award as grants to local voluntary and community groups.
Following a review of its Corporate Voluntary Sector Grants Programme between December 2007 and August 2008, Redbridge Council is inviting local groups to apply for the number of grants.
Strategic Partners Fund - this is for three years funding to carry out work that will contribute towards the Council's priorities of the Sustainable Community Strategy. The strategy outlines how the Redbridge Strategic Partnership - a body comprising the Council, Police, PCT and many other partners - will improve the quality of life residents over the next 10 years.
Emerging Needs and New Initiatives Fund - this is a one year flexible fund to support projects that address the changing needs of the Borough like developing volunteering opportunities. The Redbridge Compact, ‘Working it out Together’, aims to promote trust, co-operation and improved relationships between the statutory and voluntary and community sectors. The 2008-2011 Compact builds on the previous Compact and extends its reach in both sectors. This local ‘Compact Plus’ is based on the principles of the National Compact Plus.
